Savaşan, who is the first Turkish Cypriot elected to the Vice Presidency, told AA correspondent that the Greek Cypriots were disturbed by the election of a Turkish Cypriot to the Vice Presidency of the Council.
Sharing the information that “Turkey has an important and strong lobby on the council” in the report prepared by the Greek Cypriot Ministry of Energy and Tourism, Savaşan said that the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus has appointed the TRNC Minister of Tourism to the World Health Tourism Council. Fikri Ataoglu’s position as a member of the Honorary Council and his position as Vice President, he said that he had initiated an initiative to create an alternative to the council.
Savaşan pointed out that the Greek government pressured the secretary general and three Greek members of the council to resign.
“TURKEY HAS A STRONG LOBBY ON THE COUNCIL”
Ahmet Savaşan, Savaşan said that Turkey has an important and strong lobby on the council and that he was elected as the vice-president of the council unanimously thanks to Turkey's great support, which was accepted in 57 countries. Pointing out that the Greek and Greek lobby is no longer able to isolate Northern Cyprus from the world unjustly, Savaşan said, “In the past, we, as Turkish Cypriots, used to attribute the inability of the TRNC to be represented on international platforms to the Greek and Greek embargo and lobby. Today, for the first time on the Greek side, official sources wrote that ‘Turkey now has an important lobby in the world and in many places, and that the Greeks cannot veto the entry of Northern Cyprus into international unions’.
Stating that as the World Health Tourism Council, they make the necessary efforts to bring those who want to receive health services in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to Northern Cyprus and to benefit from the health and hotel services of the country, Savaşan said that they will continue to work to ensure that the TRNC stands on its own feet.

Pointing out that the TRNC has been subjected to unfair embargoes for years, Savaşan said, “The world and the UN need to see this injustice. There is an important power and weight of the Republic of Turkey for us as TRNC to enter the World Health Tourism Council. We see that the world is fed up with the spoiling of the Greek and Greek Cypriot side,” he said.
Pointing out that the World Health Tourism Council is not a political organization, Savaşan said that Northern Cyprus has gained international representation thanks to Turkey's determined stance and the work carried out with the support of the TRNC Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
